“I am a singer-songwriter from Amsterdam with strong ties to the Moravian countryside in the Czech Republic. As long as I can remember I have been making music and I am sure I will continue to do so the rest of my life. I started out playing classical piano but in high school I was more interested in playing bass guitar in metal and hardcore bands. Writing my own music in these bands made sense so I applied the same trick to the piano. Very slowly I built up a small repertoire of jazzy pop songs and I even got on stage once in a while. Just when I started feeling comfortable on stage, I left Amsterdam to go to study in Olomouc in the Czech Republic. Luckily I found an old piano to practise on, and the new environment inspired me to write more songs. People I met then gave me the opportunity to explore some foreign stages, and in June 2005 a friend set up a blind date with four boys who were willing to accompany me. It was love at first sight and a week later we had our first concerts. Unfortunately, I moved back to Amsterdam that same week. Since then I go back to the Czech Republic as often as I can to do small tours with this band, and last summer we recorded five songs in a castle in Valasske Mezirici. In the Netherlands I usually accompany myself on the piano and sometimes Willem on double bass stands by me.”
